An Enchanted Adventure

This week was the first week where summer actually felt like summer. Online school has ended, and coronavirus is dying down, so we decided to have some fun.
On Monday we had to pick up all the materials that we had abandoned at our school. It was a way for the teachers to say an odd goodbye as we're shipped off to high school.

That should say 8th graders. Those 6th graders aren't going anywhere.

Wednesday was a surprise expedition because my parents took the family on a quick tubing trip on the Guadalupe. Or so we thought. We were prepared for a relaxing hour-and-a-half float on the river, but it ended up being five hours. Don't get me wrong, it was fun all the way through, but we were not prepared for such a long time on the river. We'll definitely tube that passage again. It was filled with rapids and rope swings.

Ready to float!

Friday was the highlight of the week, we "took a day off" and traversed to Enchanted Rock. The family had been there before, but we only did the Summit Trail. This time we did the Loop Trail and the Summit Trail, but only Dad and I did the Summit trail. It was a fun getaway, but unfortunately motion-sickness caught up to me on the way back.

This is what our adventure looked like

Don't those rocks look like they could just slide off?

That was a tough climb
Such beautiful views
What a great place to be!
My dad thinks this is hilarious

That's not all, our parents surprised us with an end-of-the-year party, which was full of bubbles and balloons...water balloons. At the end of the water balloon fight, we were all soaking wet, so we dried off and made some backyard s' mores.

It was a fun week and I'm ready for s' more.

Mother's Day Week

This Sunday was mother's day, so the family was able to appreciate our mothers in our own special way.
What we did for our mom was a picture collage. We bought three frames and printed 40 pictures, to put in the frames for our mom.

Later in the day, we went to Olmos Park. We hiked some trails and threw a  frisbee around.
There was a creek we crossed over using a log

We were finally able to go disc golfing again at McClain Park, we aren't the best at frisbee golf, but we have fun with it.
Also this week, my mom became 72 hours fever-free! She is now feeling better with a speedy recovery.

After 3 weeks of anxious waiting. my band audition results came in, and I made Top Band! I was so happy.
Here's the top band list, if you can see it
My dad and I found a pretty nice jump spot in McAllister, but we're not great at the jump.
Here's me
Here's dad
Wednesday, everyone went outside to look for the Thunderbirds flying over. They went over our neighborhood!
Here's the route
Waiting for the Thunderbirds

On Thursday we tried to see the bat flight at Camden Bridge once again, and this time there was actually a bat flight!

Now ( as of May 15th ) there are almost 4,600,00 cases and 300,000 fatalities. Remember to stay safe and wear a mask.

Guadalupe Tubing

During quarantine, all you want is to get out and be free. So the boys decided to go on a little break to Guadalupe State Park. Saturday, we got to Guadalupe and I got some serious flashbacks. 2 years before, our scout troop decided to do a 50-mile canoe trip there. Unfortunately, the water was low, the spiders were many, the sun was intense, and the lost was real. It wasn't my best summer camp.

We walked down to the riverbed, found a place to settle, and decided it was a little cold to go swimming first. So we inflated our tubes and ate lunch. After a meal, it had warmed up and we hiked with our tubes to a spot to tube back to our settlement. The tubing wasn't eventful, but it was relaxing. It was just what we needed after all this COVID business.

After the tube run, we skipped rocks, found weird creatures, then went home. It was a nice getaway.

Caterpillar!

We also found a tadpole!

(As of May 6th) There are about 3,850,000 cases worldwide, with over 1,250,000 cases in the U.S.

Covid-19 has unfortunately killed over 250,000 people. Let's hope as we try to reopen our economy, we won't see another rise in cases. Stay home and stay safe.
